I'm kind of burnt on this game for some reason though.
I feel guilty that I have not been testing things since you are putting in the work, but I just... have no desire to play everquest right now.
This is the sort of thing that has happened to me before, I have gone months, even years without the itch to play. Right now I am not playing any online games to be honest.
If I do start playing again, I am going to twink my low level paladin with a centi spear or something, due to my observations so far.
1) The charm is overpowered in a way. The regen is so good at low levels you can engage a couple of reds and win. It's been a while but I marched my low level paladin into blackburrow and killed things like the elite ledge at about level 8. If you don't know that camp, there are anywhere from two to four elites, and a couple more gnolls that spawn there. I know there is more on that thing than regen, but that was the big thing.
2) I said in a way, because it was kind of frustrating. What is the xp rate set to anyway? I'd kind of expect to level rapidly taking on reds, but it didn't seem very quick. I mean I would clear the elite ledge, get the Master Brewer, then the room underneath the ledge with the refugee Splitpaw. Then run up to the Green Room and the Commander room. If I can do that solo, I would expect to level at least every time I cleared Blackburrow of reds. But I'm not even sure I was getting half a level doing this.
Of course I am using a fine steel weapon, but it is just kind of crazy to spend 3 or 4 minutes autoattacking in the Green Room. What would happen is I would drop a commander or high shaman at low health, then slowly regenerate when I was beating on elites. I went as low as 6% without using lay on hands, and would be back to about 50% when the battle was done.
It's not as nice as it sounds, because it is really boring looking at gnolls, and mashing the bash button every so often.
3) There is some kind of bug with Lord Elgnub in Blackburrow. I figured he would kill me, but if you get Baby Joseph from him you can get a low level magic sword (Gnoll Slayer). So I decided to try my luck, I had lay on hands right?
Only thing is there are two Lord Elgnubs. Both in the same spot. I didn't realize this till I found myself fighting two copies of the same mob.
Curiously his spawn behavior is like live, in that he is not alway up. On most of these EMU's he is always there. On this server you have to wait a while for him to spawn.
4) I don't know what your plans are for a launch, but if you have legacy characters from Furn's server, they need to have a way to get the charm. Right now if you don't roll a new character you don't get one.
Anyway I feel guilty about not playing and giving you feedback. But I just have no desire to play right now. I guess maybe I should try to level in different areas, but I just can't go to Blackburrow/Crushbone/Warrens/Unrest/SolA/SolB/City of Mist again.
