What zone versions are we supposed to use on this server?
I can't remember all of them, but Nektulos, Toxx, Commonlands, Lavastorm, the Ro's, and Freeport zones were all redone at some point. Oh yeah, and Highpass Hold is... something else now.
And is the spell file the same as Project EQ's or what?

I need to get this information together and will be posting a more 'overall' informative post regarding the server information. But what I can confirm is FP and highkeep, lavastorm, nektulos are the NEW versions. As far as the spells_us.txt, there is nothing custom about it. I believe any default spells_us.txt from SoD and above will be fine.
I will get this info together shortly and will post more specifically 'what is needed' / 'what will work' for compatibility on this server. As of now, I am looking to avoid having any custom files. However, as my skills (har-har) get more advanced maybe that will change at some later date.

I have something to add about the new zones (and the ROF2 client).
I have not been able to interact with mobs (to fight them at least) in the new versions of Freeport (newby yards) or commonlands. I'm pretty sure I went to new Innothule as well and was not able to fight mobs either. No idea about Toxx or whatever happened with the Ro's/Oasis.
Squirt and Frisco both zoned into the new zones and had the same problem.
I can tell you that on my ROF2 client, the new Highpass Hold and Lavastorm (it's been so long people forget it is new) are normal, in that you can fight mobs.
There is something going on with this. As an addition, I asked about the ROF2 client on the EQemulator forums. Due to a response I read by Trevius, I logged onto Stormhaven and was able to access "old" Freeport with no problems (he uses the old zones), out of the "Steam" box with no files copied over.
Evidently it is something server side.
Also I think you are going the right way with dropping the old zones. I prefer the old graphics and zones, but what you get out of it isn't worth it in my opinion. People always have trouble with Toxx or Nektulos, Lavastorm and that kind of thing.

The new versions of FP, commonlands, ro, or any other of those revamped zones are incomplete in the peq database. By default, these zones are set to not allow combat and are just there to let players explore
