Lavastorm, Nektulos, Lesser Faydark, West Commons, Innothule. There are some in South Ro too, but that is a long run.
I cleared each camp about four or five times. There are three to five Shadowed men at each camp. So I killed about ... let's call it 60 shadowed men, though that is a lowball estimate.
I did some reading on Allakhazam. Everyone complains about camping the Ancient Cyclops. The Shadowed Rapier is a trivial part of this quest. The closest I saw to it being described as a bottleneck was that someone had to clear the West Commons camp twice before a rapier dropped.
Okay, according to Tessmage a Shadowed Man has a 4.4% chance of dropping the Rapier. Call it 4% for argument's sake.
On an individual Shadowed Man kill I have a 96% chance of not getting a Rapier. Let's call this .96. Now on my second shadowed man kill I have a similar chance of not getting a Rapier and a 4% chance of getting one. Let's not consider the situation where I get one.
Let's go through the string of shadowed man kills with an assumption of 60.
The world in which I never get one is [.96]**60, or about .08 or an 8% chance of me being in that world.
Now,
1) We have no idea if the drop rate for this thing is the same as live.
Or
2) If it is in the drop table for Shadowed men on this server, and what the percentage is.
I have a 92% chance of there being a problem. Higher actually because the number of shadowed men I killed was more like 80 to 90 than 60.
Although really why am I doing this quest? SOW potions are available, and I always max out run anyway. A lot of work for something that isn't much of an improvement over run 3 (30% vs 35% increase in run speed), or slower than run 5 (if run 5 is available here).
So I am going to clear the camps one more time. If it doesn't drop I am forgetting about it. But from reading the Allakhazam threads, no one had this kind of problem with the rapier. It is mostly Ancient Cyclops and getting Hadden to spawn.
