Wouldn't it simplify things across the server to remove the player level restriction(s) on buff spells?
Just because things maybe simplified, doesnt mean they would be better. making those level restrictions different would cascade to other (balance)issues. I can't ever see this happening.
I watched recently a couple times, when new players waited around for MGB at level 10 or so, and even level 25-ish, for a MBG event that only wasted their time; I even mentioned this in /OOC for them "too bad there is not some kind of warning that MGB only hit players level 46 and above"
I know it's traditional (going back to 1999 beta) to have this "planar level hurdle" of level 46 (hell, i remember when beta level cap was 20!), but things evolve, and it'd be nice being able to buff everybody with the same buffs, without played time lost for buffing classes re-memming entire spell banks for new toons.
using different spells to buff ppl/classes, and re-memming spell lists is playing Everquest.
The present buff offerings between Drubo and Kilkhizz could remain unchanged, no one expects you to do anything you don't want to do, or make random unfun changes.
I've always been open for different spells suggestions that are cast from Klikhizz and Drubo.
I honestly do not like the MGB events supplying level 70+ inaccessible buff spells; i honestly wish they were restricted to player-obtainable level 65 and below; even if any are/were ancient/chaos spells.
they used to be lvl 65 spells. Then someone complained there was no motivation to go to pok for the MGB because they cast spells they could from any PC; I had them one way, and ppl didnt like it, I changed them and now ppl dont like it. I kinda like it the way it is now, offering spells that players cannot get anywhere else.
Lastly, it has become a small issue while leaving my characters up in PoK that the code doesn't check individual buffs "time remaining" and the fresh standard-duration buffs are overwriting my player character AA and gear extended buffs, causing me to have to rebuff any character(s) any time they've been up in PoK thru a MGB event.
I am not aware of anyway to check for 'time remaining' for spells.
I think I could help tweak the available MGB events a little; the first wave should probably be for casters and hybrids; then 30-60 seconds later melee and attack power related buffs; pretty much what is happening now with a couple of additions during the second wave.
again, I've always been open to suggestions on the buffs being cast. However the 65+ spells I want to keep, additions to that I am open to. adding more to the 2nd wave I am open to as well...
Everyone should probably get Primal Essence and Melee should probably click off Brell's for Strength of Nature, and click off Spell Haste and Crackvoiyance for extended Ferine Avatar, Predator and Force of Nature line (weaker than Spike potions but lasts longer)- carefully balanced, players of melee classes can even get Druids' Nature's Might strength buff to stack with Shamans' Talisman of the Daiku, boosting overall STR well over 1200 in Qvic/VP gear.
this does give me an idea that could fundamentally change the way the MGB casts the spells....if you would, could you think of specific 'buff packages'? and what I mean is:
-casters should get these spells (a,b,c,x,y,z)
-hybrids should get these spells (a,x,y,z,f,g)
-priests should get these spells (a,x,z,f,v,w,f,t)
-melee should get these spells (a,x,z,h,j,w,f,t)
-maybe even an 'under 46' package (I would not differentiate more than just 'under 46'. there would not be 'under 46 casters', or 'under 46 melee'...it would just be 'under 46')
If you notice in my example, there are some common spells that each 'buff package' would get (like a), and some spells that only 1 buff package might get (like h), etc.
I think it would be pretty easy to have each 'buff package' cast on the appropriate group of classes (caster, hybrids, preists, melee, etc) when the MGB goes off. As it goes now, everyone gets the same spells.
